Operation Christian Love

“Serving God by Serving Others”

Each December, Oak Ridge Baptist Church sends a Mission Team to Eagle Pass to participate in Operation Christian Love’s annual Christmas distribution to children in need. The Mission Team assists with the sorting of donations and the filling of children’s Christmas shoe boxes and Christmas stockings. Throughout the year, ORBC members donate needed items for the Christmas shoe boxes and stocking.
 
We invite you to be part of this important outreach by 1) donating items monthly and/or 2) joining this year’s Mission Team! Please see the monthly donation list below. Donations can be placed in the Operation Christian Love donation basket in the church foyer outside of the Worship Center.

ABOUT OPERATION CHRISTIAN LOVE
 
Operation Christian Love is an 501-C-3 charitable, non profit organization founded by the Frio River Baptist Association in 2002. The organization fulfills the Great Commission by spreading the Gospel and caring for those in need on both sides of the Texas-Mexico board in the greater Eagle Pass/Piedras Negras area.
 
Primary ministry outreach includes Orphanages, Children’s Homes, Soup Kitchens and area churches.

Oak Ridge Baptist Church members donate items each month that the Mission Team will deliver to Eagle Pass as our church’s contribution to the annual Christmas outreach.

DECEMBER: MISSION TRIP! December 3rd-7th!

ABOUT THE ANNUAL MISSION TRIP
 
Trip Costs include:
  • $40 for four nights at The Mission House
  • Your portion of cost of gasoline (team members split the cost of gasoline to and from Eagle Pass)
  • Price of dinner at a restaurant each of the four nights in Eagle Pass.
  • Cost of snacks and anything else you may want to purchase during travel to and from Eagle Pass
  • Price of snacks, souvenirs, or anything else you may want to purchase during your trip.
 
Mexico: If you would like to enter Mexico, please bring either a Passport or Passport Card. You may elect to stay in Texas for the entire trip.
 
Accommodations: The Mission House in Eagle Pass, run by Sisters Ursula Herrera and Germaine Marie. Each team member makes a $10 donation for each night stayed at The Mission House to cover the basic expenses of their stay.  
 
Meals: Breakfast is usually provided by The Mission House. Your lunch is typically provided by Ignacio Batista Jerusalem, which is the location for sorting and packaging of donations.
 
Transportation:
Transportation is usually car pooling in personal vehicles with team members splitting gasoline cost
 
Packing: Be sure to check the Eagle Pass weather forecast and pack according to weather predictions.
 
Typical Trip Schedule:
  • Tuesday – Travel to Eagle Pass; unload trailers; set up tables at church
  • Wednesday – Travel to Piedras Negras, Mexico back to Eagle Pass lunch; afternoon- organize donated items in table areas organize stocking prep area etc
  • Thursday – Prepare and box donations for various children’s homes, orphanages, churches. etc.
  • Friday -In the AM, participate in Christmas fun for children at Ignacio Batista Jerusalem; Assist as donations are picked up by various ministries for distribution. Friday afternoon travel to Indian Reservation for a meal and to assist Santa with Christmas boxes and stockings for children.
  • Saturday – In the AM, Christmas for Children at area church. Return to Portland, Texas.
